Former Police Chief Lawsuit Headed to Supreme Court
The Georgia Supreme Court will decide whether the lawsuit brought by former Jefferson Police Chief Darren Glenn can go forward. Glenn, who was fired in 2006, has sued the Jefferson City Council and the former City Manager

Glenn, who was dismissed in 2006 amid a scandal about demotions and misuse of government property, sued the Jefferson City Council and former City Manager David Clabo in 2008, saying they fired him without due process.
The city's attorney argues that Glenn should have gotten the Jackson County Superior Court to order the city to give him chance to clear his name instead of filing his lawsuit, according to a overview of the case issued by the Supreme Court.
Glenn - if the court allows his suit to go forward - is asking for $1 million to compensate him for lost wages, attorney fees and damage to his reputation.
He's also asking for punitive damages, which are limited to $250,000 under Georgia law unless Glenn's attorneys prove officials intended to harm him.
